Lesser Canada Goose

Once a common wintering bird along the Texas Coastal Prairie, the Lesser Canada Goose now seldom comes so far south. Its migration has “short-stopped”, aborting well to the north, due to shifts in agriculture, irrigation, urban development, and climate.

Here he tracks the rapid collapse of Texas populations of lesser snow geese and specklebelly geese, and the near-disappearance of the greater and lesser Canada goose, over the past generation.
