Dede Armentrout, Ph.D., served as the Southwest Regional Director of National Audubon in Texas, beginning in the mid-1970s. Early in her tenure, she faced an effort in the sheep and goat industry to kill golden and bald eagles, as predators. Here she explains the data-driven, step-wise effort that Audubon and ranchers undertook to control predation without harming the raptors.
