Chicken
Interview Audio Excerpt
See Full Interview TranscriptIndustrial agriculture is successful in providing cheap, plentiful food - the five-dollar Costco chicken. But that product has side effects, including serious impacts on animal welfare and environmental pollution. However, Bob Fischer, a professor of philosophy at Texas State University, argues that these impacts could be greatly reduced without the poor going hungry if the public were willing to moderate their meat consumption, and if processors were willing to lower the industry's high stocking densities.
