Adrian Van Dellen is a veterinarian, wildlife photographer, and long-time black bear advocate based in Woodville, Texas. Here he tells about the reintroductions of bear from Minnesota and Ontario into Arkansas in the 1950s, and then into Louisiana in the 1960s. These bear are gradually spreading out, with some young male bears recently seen in east Texas, as first steps in a possible natural recolonization.
