Tom Stehn served in the Peace Corps, worked as a biologist for the State of Iowa and later with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at McFaddin and Aransas National Wildlife Refuges. While at Aransas, he became involved with studying and helping restore the whooping crane, acting as the national coordinator for the species, and testifying in a critical case for the bird’s protection, The Aransas Project vs. Shaw.
