Matt Lechner served as a fisheries biologist with the U.S. Forest Service in the Shawnee and Sequoia National Forests, and with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in its Austin office. While in Austin, Mr. Shawnee was active in recovery work on the Barton Springs salamander.
