Mary Ruth Holder is an environmental attorney who has worked for the Texas Attorney General, in its Environmental Protection Division, and has served as the legal director for the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission. Her cases have included prosecution of air and water quality violations and efforts to ensure that safe drinking water was provided to colonias in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Her career is also noted by her role in the litigation to protect the red-cockaded woodpecker.
