Kevin Burgio, Ph.D., is a spatial ecologist, conservation biologist, and science communicator who has deeply studied the behavior, range and history of the Carolina parakeet. Extinct for over 100 years, the parakeet’s western subspecies was known to frequent east Texas, from Polk county north to the Red River valley.
