Dr. Derr is a professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M in College Station. For many years, his research has looked at the genetic issues facing American bison, including problems of inbreeding and of hybridizing with cattle, and of developing medications and treatments that are keyed to the specific needs of bison.
