Gary Rinn has been a diver, divemaster, and boat operator, hosting and guiding visitors to the Flower Gardens Banks National Marine Sanctuary. Through a non-profit he helped form, the Gulf Reef Environmental Action Team, he also was active in installing mooring buoys to protect against anchor, chain and cable damage to the reefs, and in lobbying for Sanctuary designation.
