Dr. Saenz is a research wildlife biologist who has worked for three decades at the Southern Research Station in the Wildlife Habitat and Silviculture Laboratory, a unit of the US Forest Service. He has extensively studied the natural history of the red-cockaded woodpecker, and been deeply involved in restoration efforts for the bird.
